Hazel M. (Readel) Preston, 87 of Wrentham died October 22 in her home following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Walter L. Preston who died in 1990.
Born in Norwood, September 30, 1926, the daughter of the late Eldred and Eva (Wilson) Readel, Mrs. Preston had lived in Wrentham for most of her life.
Mrs. Preston had worked at the Wrentham Developmental Center for over 40 years, retiring as a supervisor.
Hazel loved being part of her children and her grandchildren’s lives.
She also enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her children, Walter Preston , Jr. of Herando, Florida, Richard Preston of Pahrump, Nevada, William Preston of Wrentham and Rita Schulman of Dover.
She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia Carver and Evelyn Preston of Norfolk.
She was the sister of the late Dorothy Oblachinski, Eldridge, Robert and Donald Readel.
She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Her graveside services will be held on Friday October 25 in Wrentham Centre Cemetery at 1:oop.m.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Fund, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX. 75265.

Ronald Anthony Lee, 62 of Gray, ME, died peacefully at his home on October 31, after a brief battle with cancer. His devoted partner of 18 years, Andrea Maloney, was by his side.

Born in Norwood, MA on October 20, 1951, Ron was the son of the late Roy M. and Annie M. (Giandomenico) Lee of Walpole, MA. Besides his partner, Andrea, Ron is survived by his sons R. Michael Lee of Cambridge, MA, Craig A. Lee of Bloomington, MN, and Rory and Taylor Maloney of Gray, ME. Ron was the brother of Roy F. Lee and his wife, Tina, of Walpole, Robert Lee of Brewster, MA, and Joanne Harrison and her husband, Jeffrey, of Naples, ME. Ron also leaves behind his many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ron graduated from Walpole High School in 1969 where he lettered in both hockey and baseball. Ron was a hard worker and wore many hats during his lifetime, including Production Supervisor at IDEXX, Distribution Manager at the Portland Press Herald, and Course Superintendant at Freeport Country Club.

A memorial celebration of Ron’s life will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main Street in Walpole. Services will followed by luncheon at 2:00 pm at the Lafayette House on 109 Washington St. (Rt. 1), Foxboro.

Ruth P. (Lindsay) Baker, 94, of South Walpole, died, Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Charwell House in Norwood. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth H. Baker who died in 1991.

Born in Mattapan on April 8, 1919, she was a daughter of the late James T. and Margaret (Kelley) Lindsay.

Mrs. Baker was a resident of South Walpole for most of her life. She graduated from Walpole High School in 1936 and attended a business school in Boston.

A homemaker for most of her life, family was everything to her.

She is survived by her children, Judith Cook of Virginia, Robert Baker and his wife Lorraine of South Walpole, Joel Baker and his wife Maureen of South Walpole, Patricia Jones of Buzzards Bay and Lisa Edgerly and her husband Peter of Norwood.

She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Ellie Baker of Winchendon, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late James Baker, mother-in-law of the late George Cook and Arthur Jones and sister of the late Elsworth and James Lindsay and Charlotte Brooks.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday, November 29 at 11 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main Street in Walpole (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

Burial will follow at Terrace Hill Cemetery in South Walpole.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 10 – 11 a.m.

Marvin C. Lacy, 67 of Walpole, MA, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 24, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Fall River on September 17, 1946, Marvin was the son of the late Duart and Gladys (Clarke) Lacy of Dighton, MA. After graduating from Dighton-Rehoboth High School in 1964, he went on to work as a mechanical engineer at Raytheon for 26 years. Marvin then continued with his skilled craftsmanship at Consolidated Container for 10 years. Prior to his retirement he worked for Coca-Cola for 5 years, again as a mechanical engineer.
Marvin’s most cherished pastime was enjoying time with his grandchildren. In addition, he also enjoyed cruising in his Corvette, restoring cars and trucks; collecting die cast model cars, woodworking, watching NASCAR, and Boston sports.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Susan Lacy of Walpole, MA, his daughters Shannon Geneseo of Bellingham, Melissa Lacy of Walpole, and Crystal Wall of Bellingham. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Kayleigh Magee of Blackstone, Bryanna Magee, Khloie Geneseo, Billy Evers, and CJ Wall all of Bellingham.
Memorial services will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street in Franklin. Services will be followed by a celebration of Marvin’s life at 7:00 pm the Elks Lodge, 1077 Pond Street in Franklin.

Kazinieras V. Stasiukevicius, 49, formerly of East Walpole died November 27.
Born in New Britain, Connecticut, June 24, 1964, the son of Kazinieras Stasiukevicius of Treasure Island, Florida and Aldona (Sinkevicius) Stasiukevicius of Medfield, Mr. Stasiukevicius was raised in Newington, Connecticut.
He was a graduate of Bryant College and the Western New England School of Law.
Mr. Stasiukevicius had been a lawyer.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his children, Rachel and Adam Stasiukevicius of East Walpole and his brother Paul Stasiukevicius of Walpole.
His funeral will be held in Friday December 6 from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street Walpole at 8:00 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, South Walpole.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 5-8.

Janet A. (Nelon) Gillis, 77, of East Walpole, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, surrounded by her family, at her home.
She was the wife of the late Donald Gillis.
Born in Waltham, February 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Lucille C. (Coen) Nelon,
She is survived by her children, Donald Gillis, Jr. and his wife Maureen of East Walpole, Linda Gillis of East Walpole and Michael Gillis and his wife Lauren of Tiverton, Rhode Island.
She was the loving grandmother of Jennifer, Brien, Heather, Ashley, Colleen and Brady.
She is also survived by her sister Nancy Dillon and her husband Jack and was the sister of the late John Nelon.
She will be sadly missed by her dear friends, Barbara, Barbara 2, and Teresa and many others.
Her memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday January 6 in St. Mary’s Church East Walpole at 9:00.
Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home , Walpole.

Barry F. Wartenberg, 83, of North Truro died January 6, 2014 at Seashore Point in Provincetown after a long illness. His wife, Geraldine K. Wartenberg died in 2011.

Born in Union City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Fred and Grace (Chave) Wartenberg. A Graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Technology, a part of Carnegie Mellon University, he was a mechanical engineer for the J. M. Huber Co. in Edison, NJ. He was US Army veteran, and thereafter, a Major in the New Jersey National Guard. Upon his retirement 27 years ago, Mr. Wartenberg and his wife moved to North Truro.

In Truro, Mr. Wartenberg was active in town affairs and served as a member of the Building Committee for the Truro Public Safety Building. He also enjoyed woodworking, making many pieces of furniture for his home.

Sons Keith Wartenberg of North Truro, Gary Wartenberg of Walpole, MA, and Jeff Wartenberg of North Carolina survive him. Grandchildren Eric and Thomas Legerwood, Alex, Curtis, Jeremy, Kyle, and Alana Wartenberg, as well as Great-grandson Ward Legerwood also survive him. A daughter, Kim Legerwood, predeceased him.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown on Saturday, January 18th at 11:00 am, where a Remembrance Service will be held.

Barbara M. (Hughes) Carmody, 86, of East Walpole, died, Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the beloved wife of William C. Carmody who died in 1996.

Born in Boston on September 22, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Williamina J. (Ferris) Hughes.

Mrs. Carmody was a former resident of East Walpole for over 50 years.

She graduated from Emmanuel College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Boston State College. Prior to starting her family, Mrs. Carmody taught in the Norwood Public school system.

A homemaker for most of her life, she loved spending time with her children and granddaughters.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan M. Luke and her husband James of South Attleboro and Elizabeth Ann Carmody of North Attleboro, a son Paul E. Carmody of North Attleboro and two granddaughters, Melanie Hope Luke and Megan E. Carmody.

A funeral Mass was held privately at St. Mary’s Church in East Walpole with burial following at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.

Robert I. Stewart 96, formerly of Walpole, Ma, passed away peacefully at Forge Hill Sr. Living, in Franklin, Ma. He was the husband of the late Ruth Stewart, father of Robert and Michelle Stewart of Colorado, Nancy Jill Stewart of Waltham, and Jeffrey and Pamela Moor of Millis. He also leaves two grandchildren, Emily Falotico of South Boston and Hannah Moor of Quincy. Born in Boston, Bob is the son of the late Alexander and Helen Stewart of Edinburgh, Scotland, and brother of the late, Agnus Stewart, Katie Johnston, Ellen McPhee, and William Stewart, all from the Boston/Cambridge area. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in management, from the School of Business. Bob is best remembered as the Veterans agent for the Town of Walpole, VP Loan Officer for the South Shore National Bank and Town Representative for a very long time. He was a true patriot. As a Marine during World War 11, he served our country in Japan and founded the Norfolk County Detachment Marine Corps League, which is still active today. Bob belonged to many organizations including the Shriners, VFW, the Masons, Boston Business Men’s Association, Board of Directors for the MBTA, and many other local civic minded group. For those of you depending on Plimptonville as your local train stop in Walpole, you can thank Bob for securing it as a permanent stop for perpetuity. He was a person who helped people in their time of need. He lived a long and industrious life serving his community. He will be remembered for his love of the Red Sox and summers vacationing on Cape Cod. His funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14 in the United Church of Walpole at 11:00a.m. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Walpole. Eileen M. “Enie” Geraghty, 95, of East Walpole died February 26 in the Charlwell House in Norwood. Born in East Walpole, January 11, 1919, the daughter of the late Edward and Emily (McDermott) Geraghty, Miss Geraghty was a lifelong Walpole resident. Miss Geraghty had worked for over 40 years in the accounting department at Bird & Son in East Walpole. Enie had been a member of the Walpole Country Club. She was an avid golfer, loved to bowl and travel and enjoyed going out to eat. She was the sister of the late Catherine Lynch, John, Charlotte, Edward, Joseph, Michael and Charles Geraghty. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great -nieces and great-nephews. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday March from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main Street Walpole at 8:00 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00.Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, South Walpole. Ian H. Johnson, 73, of Walpole died Wednesday, February 26. He was born to the late Arthur and Jeanie (McKenna) Johnson of East Walpole. Ian graduated from Walpole High School in 1959 before entering the Army. He worked at the East Walpole Post Office for 30 years and pat-time at Norwood Hospital for 24 years. In his spare time he enjoyed visits with his grandchildren, going fishing and golfing and he loved watching sports on television. He is survived by his wife Micheline (Laramee) Johnson of Walpole. He is also survived by his son Eric Johnson of Walpole and his daughter Nicole Crowley and her husband David of Wilmington. He was the brother of Fred Johnson of Guilford, Connecticut and Elizabeth Johnson of Boston. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Justin, Liam and Samantha Crowley of Wilmington. A private family service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Gentiva Hospice, 2 Willow Street, Suite 102, Southborough, Ma 01745. Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home, Walpole.
